Recipe – Classic Mint Mojito with Captain Morgan Rum

When life gives you lemons (or limes), what do you do? Add some mint and make a mojito! We continue our home bar series with a special focus on rum and the classic Mint Mojito! We used Captain Morgan White Rum, our personal favorite.

Did you know that the Mojito was originally known as El Draque and was consumed for medicinal purposes? With it’s delicious flavors we can easily see how this cocktail was considered healing!

Considered the national drink of Cuba, almost all of the ingredients in the Mojito are indigenous to the island nation. Rum, lime, mint, and sugar are joined together beautifully and then lengthened with thirst quenching club soda to create a refreshing and delicious summer drink. Traditionally this drink is made with white rum, which give it it’s signature light, crisp flavor.

Recipe:
1. Place the mint, lime wedges, and simple syrup at the bottom of the glass. Muddle gently to release the lime juices.
2. Fill the cup 3/4 with crushed ice. Crushed ice will ensure maximum flavour.
3. Pour in Captain Morgan White Rum and soda water. Stir well.
4. Top with more crushed ice and garnish with mint.
