Recipe – Espresso Martini with Belvedere Vodka

We continue our Basic Home Bar series this week with a special focus on Vodka. Because of it’s taste, vodka is the most popular alcohol used in cocktails. Vodka has a clean and transparent flavor that makes it versatile in a variety of cocktails and a joy to sip on it’s own. Lime Liquor recommends Belvedere for your home bar! Splurge on the big bottle, you’ll be making good use of it.

Winter in Calgary can feel harsh and cold. That’s why an Espresso Martini is one of our top choices for a winter drink. Warm, savory, and celebratory, this drink helps lift our mood and spirit on even the coldest of winter nights.

This legendary drink was created by bartender Dick Bradsell in the 1980’s. Rumor has it, that a famous supermodel walked into his New York City bar and asked for a drink that would “wake me up, then mess me up.” Bradsell whipped up the drink on the spot using leftover grounds from a coffee machine. Though the rumor is unconfirmed, the drink meets both expectations.

To make this drink simply combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into a martini glass and enjoy!!

Pro tip: If you don’t have an espresso machine, any cold brew concentrate will be an acceptable substitute!
