Barrell Bourbon Batch 033 represents a harmonious union of barrels, with a mix of high-rye and high-corn varieties aged between 5 to 9 years. The high-rye barrels were carefully selected for their distinctive notes of stone fruit, black pepper, and nutmeg, while the high-corn barrels were chosen for their rich flavors of butterscotch, coffee, and citrus. These barrels were allowed to mingle for a period of two months, and their balance was finely adjusted to create the most optimal blend.
On the nose, you’ll be greeted with scents of pear, lemon meringue, and shoofly pie, signaling a bourbon that strikes a delicate balance between youthful freshness and mature complexity. A bouquet of jasmine, nasturtium, and dandelion hints at a youthful vibrancy, while subtle notes of peppermint and gentian root provide a subtle nod to the influence of oak aging. A gentle savory character unfolds, revealing flavors of edamame, macadamia nut, and mesquite smoke.
