Bruichladdich Octomore 16.2 is a super-heavily peated Islay single malt that explores the rich influence of contrasting cask finishes. Distilled in 2019 from 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley harvested in 2018 and malted to an intense 101.4 PPM, it was matured in Oloroso and Bordeaux casks before being recasked into Madeira and Portuguese Moscatel casks for its final year. The result combines Octomore’s powerful peat smoke with layers of caramelised sugar, roasted nuts, dried fruit, and rich cask sweetness.

The nose brings dried fruit, tropical fruit, delicate florals, toasted oak, honeysuckle, orange blossom, and a fresh salty breeze alongside earthy peat smoke. On the palate, sweet smoke leads into caramelised sugar, roasted nuts, dried fruit, candied peel, warming spice, and subtle sea salt, creating a rich contrast between peat and sweetness. A long, sweet and smoky finish leaves lingering maritime freshness and wood spice.
